At Valais KC, our passion is preserving and promoting one of the world’s most extraordinary sheep breeds—the Valais Blacknose.
Originating in the Valais region of Switzerland, the Valais Blacknose is renowned for its striking appearance, luxurious fleece, distinctive black markings, and gentle, inquisitive temperament. Often referred to as “the world’s cutest sheep,” the breed has captivated livestock enthusiasts around the globe. Yet beyond their unmistakable looks, these sheep represent generations of careful breeding and a rich heritage that deserves to be preserved.
Our story began long before Valais KC.
As the founders of Boddicker Show Lambs, our mission was to produce elite crossbred show lambs capable of competing at the highest levels. Through years of selective breeding, we were fortunate to raise some outstanding livestock and build lasting relationships within the sheep industry.
Everything changed when we discovered the Valais Blacknose.
Like so many others, we were immediately drawn to their incredible appearance, but it didn’t take long to appreciate that there was much more to the breed than looks alone. Their calm personalities, exceptional fleece, and centuries-old Swiss heritage made a lasting impression. After countless hours of research and conversations with respected breeders across North America, we knew this was the direction we wanted to take.
We took the first step by investing in two exceptional F5 foundation ewes, marking the beginning of our Valais Blacknose journey and the creation of Valais KC.
Today, our breeding program is built on a simple philosophy: preserve the integrity of the Valais Blacknose through thoughtful breeding, responsible stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to authentic purebred genetics. Every breeding decision is made with the goal of producing sheep that exemplify the qualities that have made this breed so admired around the world—correct structure, outstanding fleece, sound genetics, and the gentle disposition for which the Valais Blacknose is known.
Although the breed continues to grow in popularity throughout North America, quality purebred genetics remain limited. We believe every breeder has a responsibility to protect the future of the breed by prioritizing quality over quantity and remaining true to the standards that have defined the Valais Blacknose for generations.
